    What is your problem?
I do not know what you are asking for?

Defender is a good anti-malware utility.
It relies on frequent malware definition updates, which can be done automatically though Windows update or manually by the user.
Every anti-malware utility also depends on frequent malware definition updates.

    Hello @gordie,

There are MANY threads on this Forum that discuss this topic. At the end of the day, it is really down to personal choice of what you want from the Antivirus.

Windows Security [ Microsoft Defender, formerly Windows Defender ] has come a LONG way over the past few years and is now VERY good and more than capable. Unlike other AV software, it does NOT throttle your Internet connection, or give FALSE Positives like other AV's may.

From what I have read, Microsoft Defender also works quite nicely with Malwarebytes.

For added security in case of infection, it is STRONGLY recommended that you regularly create a System Image along with the addition of backing up important data that you do NOT want to lose such as Folders, Files, Photos, etc, BOTH to an external drive.

    I hope this helps.

As mentioned above... most people use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes for a 2nd opinion.

If you want to use a 3rd party solution, I would recommend Bitdefender (free or paid).

Haven't used anything but defender and little bit of common-sense since Windows 10 was still in beta. No issues on the 8 computers on my home network.

    i was defender hater
but.. several month ago i stop trying to use 3rd party software

i stop using iobit all in one include smart defrag and tools (except driver booster )
i stop looking for lightweight AV ( i was use panda, then after dome, i move to comodo cloud then after they close the services i move to panda dome that already fix the lag) start using defender
**but i turn off the smartfilter or other edge smartfilter/addon.

so if you want the lightweight but powerfull (at least more powerfull then other high name)
panda Free AV still the winner......

big name of brand is not an promise AV will protect you in good way
