My passwords are in a password-protected spreadsheet that lives in a USB stick that lives on my keyring that stays with me everywhere I go.
I should also have mentioned earlier on that some people use a utility called a Password manager to do the same job. When I ask a browser to save a website login I am, in effect, using its built-in Password manager.
There are several discussions of Password managers in the forum & elsewhere. These are the links I have kept:-

I use a password manager and one that works with windows applications.

Example 512 characters not to be used with the windows account password because for a clean installation it may soon no longer be possible to use a local account:

Except for a few core passwords, you actually do not have to remember that many. I used the same password for meaningless webpages over the years, but it was blocked lately, because it leaked, yet no one has every abused it. Still there are 2 easy options. Use webpage as the password, like https://www.tenforums.com, it has special characters, it is easy to remember, you can add year of registration, if it requires a number. The other option is to use a random password, if you ever need to re-login, you will simply select, that you have forgotten the password.

I used to use a spreadsheet but that got to be too much to manage. I now use a password manager for the over 100 accounts I have. Once in a while I export all the data from the password manager and keep it in a safe place.

The only downside to a password manager is all the ones I tried only work with a web browsers. When I use an app like Steam I have to copy the password from the password manager and paste it into the steam login.

You can do this for apps with roboform if you had it.

I can do a little tutorial, it's because of roboform it's poorly explained or not at all. I found out how it works myself.

Before going to sleep I will put the little tutorial.

    @MisterEd

How to use rofoform with windows applications.

1 launch the application for which you want to save the username and password.

2 left click on the roboform icon in the system tray->with the mouse cursor hover over the "browser" entry-> in the drop-down menu that appears choose the name that corresponds to the application which is launched and for which you want to save the password, example for spotify, in the tree it will be spotify: spotify( steam... twitter...)->a roboform bar will appear at the bottom of the application window, click on save at left of the bar-> click on the keyboard key shift-ctrl-enter (simultaneously or hold shift-ctrl simultaneously then enter)->A small roboform window will appear with the name of the application, click enter and close. You can close all windows. Almost finished, now fill in the username, password and official scrip in step 3.

3 left click on the roboform icon in the system tray->click "editor" to open the window->click application, your application should be listed here with the exe path and application title path ->click on the name of the application->At the top right of the window click on more->fields->add a field->in the small window expand type of fields and select "User ID", repeat this procedure add fields to add "password" and "script" fields. All you have to do is copy/paste the username, password and script in step 4.

4 In the fields you added in step 3 copy/paste the username, password and script into their fields. Click on the small floppy disk at the top right to save your fields

For the script I give the basic roboform script:

    $u
    TAB
    $p
    SUBMIT:
    ENTER

    $u for user ID
    $p for password

    My script goes everywhere:

    CLEAR
    $u
    TAB
    $p
    SUBMIT:
    ENTER

CLEAR <--- in some applications there is already the user name indicated and others not, then with clear you remove the user name, and for those which do not already have it, it is also fine, and you only have one script for all applications.

ENTER <--- I wouldn't put enter, sometimes there are things to do before validating...

When you are going to launch the application a bar will launch below, and click left to left on the bar on the name of the application.

Note: in step 2 when you choose the browser window be careful sometimes you have a large window with a smaller window in front for the username and password. If it doesn't work with the large window, try the small one... You choose the window with "browser" shown in step 2.

In step 3, to modify the fields, click on the small pencil at the top right. To delete a field it is the same procedure as to add one but you choose "delete the field", select a field first to indicate which one will be deleted. Click on the small floppy disk at the top right to save your fields

    script roboform: Security check

It works with applications from the Windows store and those that are not from the store.

I didn't say which password manager I was using but I am using the paid version of Roboform. I tried the steps but I am getting an error from the script. When I get a chance I will look at the steps to see where the problem is. Thanks for the tutorial.

I was almost 100% sure you had roboform. When I did around March April a search to find a password manager to replace the one in my antivirus in EOL, I came across a tenforum page for password managers dated around the end of 2021 you said that you had roboform and it didn't work for apps.

The script must be entered vertically as below:

    $u
    TAB
    $p
    SUBMIT:
    ENTER

When you choose the window with the browser of roboform to put a bar at the bottom, sometimes there is a large window and a small window in front for the user ID and the password often in the center, if it does not go with the large window and in the browser tree there is another window entry, choose the small window to put the roboform bar on it. For example for Nvidia geforce experience it is the small window called "nvidia connect with nvidia"

Sometimes the basic script does not work with some login windows. For example for epic games launcher I have to put a TAB at the beginning otherwise the script does not work, it sucks. Experiment with one or more TABs at the beginning and/or between $u and $p.

    TAB
    CLEAR
    $u
    TAB
    $p
    SUBMIT:

With epic games launcher there is a large window and the small one, on the small one it says connect with epic game, connect with facebook etc., I first click on connect with epic game to then launch the script connection with the bar by clicking on the left.

For the ORIGIN launcher, when you log in for the first time, the user identifier field will not be filled in, this is normal. But then when you go to logout and login again, the password field will be selected and the user ID field will be filled. The script will fail, so what I do, I select with the mouse the user field before launching the script, this one.

    CLEAR
    $u
    TAB
    $p
    SUBMIT:

I think I have said everything to help you with the script that fails, experiment with the script with TAB, experiment with other windows with the roboform browser when there are several indicated for only one application launched.
Click on the small floppy disk at the top right to save your fields at the beginning and when you rectify them.
