Bitlocker can't copy folders to NAS. Suggest encryption software.

I made a bitlocker folder stored it on my PC, i can not store this folder on my NAS without removing the encryption or view it on another computer.

What i am looking to do is encrypt just a folder store on my NAS, or the cloud and be able to view it on any of my computers with a key of sorts.

I want the folder encrypted not just a password like winrar does.

Any suggestions?

What you are saying makes no sense to me. When you copy data over the network to the NAS, that very action IS already decrypting the data. It's just like accessing a file locally on a BitLocker encrypted volume. The act of accessing the file causes BitLocker to decrypt the file on the fly so that you can access it.

EFS behaves very differently and actually causes problems with network access from another system but behaves the same as BitLocker if you copying files FROM the local system to another system.

Could you maybe tell me a little more - what is precise symptom you see when trying to copy data to a NAS? Any error messages? If so, please provide the error messages precisely word for word.

That's just it i want the file to stay encrypted on the NAS and be able to read it from other computers.

I have a folder of tax pdf, scans that i want encrypted and stored in the cloud, NAS etc. There seems to be no software to do this or maybe i am going at it the wrong way.

Bitlocker to go seems like what i want but i do not use a USB flash drive. If bitlocker to go could do the same thing to a folder.

The way Veracrypt and similar work is to store such items in an ecrypted container.

Yes like bitlocker to go.

The alternative to VeraCrypt is to create a VHDX virtual file and encrypt it with BitLocker. I have used both for years.

Is 7 zip encrypted? I remember years ago you could add a password to winzip.
