IMHO Windows Security (Defender) is still the best AV for Windows 10/11. It is updated every time Windows Update is run since it is a part of Windows. It works seamlessly with Windows and any apps you run. It is not bloated like McAfee, Norton, etc. It does not give False Positives, like Avast and Avira. And it's free unlike Kaspersky. Since the inception of Windows 10 the Flood of new viruses has turned into a trickle. Windows Security works just as robustly as any other AV. And it's free.

Defender consistently ranks the equal of all the major brands, scoring straight 6's at AVTest.

An AV is only as good as its virus definitions, and Microsoft update theirs two, three, or more times each day. Windows Update will only look for them once a day, but you can manually check for updates any time you like. You'll almost always find there's a new one ready to download.

Windows Defender and common sense. The common sense is the hard one to find nowadays.

I just use TinyWall. its a small fire wall. it just uses whats already there, but no taxing processes from Defender.

Defender is good i think it has stuff that works. But if your PC is old and you dont care that much, then Id use Tiny Wall. Can also try ESET.

Right now, I just use TinyWall, and have strict policies set. It can interfere with stuff. Like games, and only a uninstall triggered with the installer itself, can remove it.

However now a days, hackers are rampant, and if they want to hack you they can and easily. And fire walls and stuff like this can be worked around. The best defense, is dont install or click on random stuff or sites.

Don't install anything. But if you need things for productivity or whatever use case. Then you are going to run into it eventually.
