    Unable elininate Trojan:HTML/Phish.BOV!MTB

    Detected by Microsoft Defender Antivirus:
    Trojan:HTML/Phish.BOV!MTB
    Status: Quarantined
Quarantined files are in a restricted area where they can't harm your device. They will be removed automatically.
    Date: 7/30/2022 8:40 AM
Details: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.
    Affected items:
    containerfile: \Users\Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\8XVAY809\Q80Q0S26.htm
    file: C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\IE\8XVAY809\Q80Q0S26.htm->(SCRIPT0000)

    Trojan:HTML/Phish.BOV!MTB
Defender notified me about the Trojan above, quarantined it, Defender stayed green, implying that the threat is neutralized.
Then about every 15-20 minutes the Trojan reappears again and Defender quarantines it again, non stop all day long. 40 +- quarantines.
    Actions taken so far:
Did a full scan with Defender.
Did a full off line Defender scan.
    Did a full Malware-bytes scan.
Did a full scan with Microsoft Safety Scanner.
Booted into safe mode, did a full scan with Microsoft Safety Scanner.
There were no threats detected in any of the above scans.
When I disconnect from the internet the trojan stops reappearing?
Shortly after reconnecting to the internet and before starting a browser, the trojan starts showing up and Defender quarantines them again.
I have searched online but I was unable to find any helpful information.
I would surely appreciate any ideas on how to get rid of the trojan.
    Thanks

    Hi,

Make an image of the system you are going to disinfect.

Delete all restore points you have on the computer.

Have a Working Windows installation media for your setup, Also have any additional storage drivers your computer needs to function.

Windows may need reparation after cleanup.

Use the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool. Follow this guide:

Understanding and using the Norton Bootable Recovery Tool - Important.

I wish you the best of luck with that.

    Hello @Maynard5

Please consider running a full scan with https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/security/intelligence/safety-scanner-download?view=o365-worldwide

...followed by a full scan with Free Virus Scan | Online Virus Scan from ESET | ESET

Both full scans will take very many hours. Please be very patient.
