The classical statement is not to use 3rd party uninstallers for AVs. Has that changed?

That said they are useful tools and I use one routinely when uninstalling.
You would expect the manual tool provided by most AV suppliers to be specifically designed and targeted.
    Agree

My experience has been to use the AV recommended uninstaller and also due a manual check of registry and file folders/

    thanks again everybody.
I uninstalled Norton on 5 computers and got Windows defender going.
Then I downloaded NRnR and ran that. Then I deleted the left over folders. I think I'm good.
I got a new router, well it's old but not obsolete so I can update it still. Netgear R7000.
I bought Armor which let me download bitdefender to any computer that I wanted to.
    So I did.
OK so right away I noticed bitdefender was giving me some notifications, but after I answered them they went away.
I was thinking oh no what did I do haha
But it seems to be ok now, on all my pc's.
Now I have a networking question but rather than hijack my own thread I'll head over there and ask.
    Thanks again everybody.

Norton has been pissing me off lately with all their in my face pop ups. Even though I paid for the program I am getting pop ups and notifications about how I need to buy this or that.
    1) What edition of Norton?
    2) What pop-ups? Data Protector?

    sorry for my delayed response.
I am traveling right now and I forgot to check in lol

just the ads from Norton. You have a weak network password, you need to buy THIS.
You are on an unsecured network. You need to buy Norton VPN.
Every ten minutes I get another notification from Norton telling me I need to buy this or that from them.
It got exhausting so I quit.

I'm running Norton 360 and these can easily be disabled in settings. I see none of this.
