    Windows Security -- Actions Recommended

Since I removed Webroot and installed Bitdefender, I see the above notice on my bottom bar. I've looked at every setting I can find. Bitdefender is correctly shown as my antivirus provider, and Windows antivirus is turned off. I can't find anything else that appears in need of correction, and the interface is not pointing me anywhere in particular.

    What am I missing?

In the Windows Defender Security Center, in case under No actions needed, you see a Dismiss message, click on it to make it disappear.

I use Bitdefender too. When I first downloaded and installed it I got a red X on my MS Security icon that was prompting me to update Bitdefender. I did the update manually as an admin and the red X warning disappeared. Normally though you should get a visible text on MS telling you to update Bitdefender. You could also have some residual files left over from Webroot that are stopping Bitdefender from running, which would trigger a warning from MS Security. I don't know which version of Webroot you had but there is a dedicated removal tool here:

How to remove Webroot? Download Webroot uninstaller / removal tool

I have heard it can be hard to completely remove Webroot. It might help to run the removal tool, then download the Everything utility and let it scan your drive, then use it to search for leftover Webroot files. Everything will show you every file on your computer.

    Downloads - voidtools

You can right click and delete some types of files directly from within the Everything program, others you may need to right click and select show path to find the files' location to delete them manually. You can also search the registry manually to find and remove Webroot entries. One other thing you can try is to download Hibit Uninstaller and use the junk files cleaner and registry cleaner tools to search and remove Webroot and any other files you no longer need.

    HiBit Uninstaller

Bitdefender is picky but it's also a great AV once you get it working. It will not run if it sees anything on your system even remotely connected to or is part of any other security app. I hope this might help you.

    Solved!

I don't know what the problem was but there's no trace of it this morning. Thanks for the advice, though.
