How To Turn Off Kaspersky Total?

How do you turn off kaspersky total and then have microsoft defender turned on? When i bought kaspersky total a while back and turned it on, recalled it turned off microsoft defender.

But if my windows laptop is scanned and no threats with kaspersky, there is no risk turning it off temporarily and then have microsoft defender turned on so i could see if the lag and slow issues on my chrome tabs and youtube and in general is related to kaspersky? Heard mixed reviews on if kaspersky uses ton of memory and resources.

Does kaspersky total use lot of ram and resources or not? Bought it because i heard microsoft defender isn't good enough sometimes? But generally its more than good enough as long as you don't visit shady sites? But what if you accidentally click on a link or attachment or download something? Doesn't kaspersky total protect you there much more than the free microsoft defender? Heard that unless you open the file, almost nothing happens? But there are malware that would open itself the moment you click on it?

To fully re-enable Defender you would need to completely uninstall any real-time 3rd party AV program.

You can partially enable and use Defender with an AV installed. E.g.
Enable Microsoft Defender Alongside 3rd Party Antivirus Software | EXTRA Protection On Windows 10 PC - YouTube
    (enable periodic scanning)

    - and you should be able to start a manual scan with Defender

    Just chiming in -

Personally, I would cleanly uninstall Kaspersky (mainly due to the current geopolitical climate) and just use Windows Defender and it's Firewall.
You can supplement with MBAM free, as an on-demand scanner.

Wow you need to actually remove kaspersky total ? So you can't just turn it off temporarily, then have microsoft defender automatically turn on... then you could test things on your laptop to see if you have lag such as chrome tabs and youtube and other programs? Then just turn back on kaspersky total with the current settings that i have it?

The thing is if i uninstall kaspersky total completely, reinstalling would mean i need to make few configurations to the settings right? The thing is i recalled when i installed kaspersky total, they had many things turned on in settings like kaspersky keyboard and webcam turn on which i had to manually turn off etc. Sometimes the keyboard didn't work but then its because of a kaspersky setting. Also it would ask you on sites such as do you want to use a safe browser when entering your credit card information on a site etc. Do people turn those on or not? Because that makes the laptop lot slower so i turned some of those settings off.

The reason i bought kaspersky was because i wasn't sure if my windows pc had malware or not... kaspersky did not find anything but i still wanted to be sure so i did clean reinstall and then installed kaspersky total. Back then, always used the free microsoft defender and malwarebytes free. But because last time i clicked on a link but not sure if it had malware or not, ended up just buying kaspersky total to scan on the laptop, then just clean reinstall windows ten pro etc. So at the moment, i feel chrome tabs and youtube is bit slow. Again... i do have tons of tabs... and some tabs do update in real time. So that could be a reason? However, even when i open few youtube videos, always seem slow.... where you wait a bit, then you get that ad... you wait and click skip ad because no youtube premium.

But if you accidentally click on a link or attachment or download it, kaspersky total would protect you more then microsoft defender right? Know people say the safe way is to avoid shady sites and don't download torrents and things like that. But i mean if you accidentally click on a link or attachment, then aren't you concerned with just microsoft defender and malwarebytes free?

Thing is i heard people say microsoft defender is built in windows so it uses very little resources. Agree with this because don't recall much lag at all ever using it. But surely kaspersky total protects you more than microsoft defender if you click on a dangerous link or website?

Whether Kaspersky can be disabled or not depends entirely on the settings available within it.

Normally AV's that offer real-time scanning ensure that function of Defender is disabled when installed.

There are several threads asking the question as to whether Defender is 'good enough' by itself. I suggest you have a look at them. You may of course need a particular feature of a 3rd party program, or simply prefer it for some reason.

Uninstalling a complex security program almost inevitably leaves traces. Such programs often also provide a manual uninstaller which you can download from their site if you have leftovers you notice.

    Use Revo Uninstaller.

Conventionally using such uninstall tools for complex security programs has not been recommended.

Has that view changed? If so, I would be interested in the evidence. Thanks.

That has not changed, its still recommended to use the anti-virus's uninstall tool rather then a program such as Revo.

    Yes.

    Found this -

Download Kaspersky Products Remover - MajorGeeks

    Scan it first!
