The OP's question is basically political. Are the admins supposed to delete this entire thread?

Of course, I sure hope that the admins don't delete all members from Russia.

IMO the OP's question was solely about security, perhaps recognizant that Kaspersky's head office is in Moscow. I didn't read anything political into the question.

I use Kaspersky Total Security 2021 as does my daughter. Due to current situation in Moscow, is there any danger that Putin will use Kaspersky to 'nuke' computers?

I too find that the OP's question is solely from a security aspect, and they are obviously concerned because of recent events and the origin of the Software that they are using, hence asking the question.

Technology and politics are deeply interrelated, as the case of cryptocurrencies shows. Many things changed on day 1 of invasion, and Kaspersky can´t be trusted anymore, unless they establish in the "West" and break with the Russian government.

IMO this is not the right sort of forum to discuss both technology and politics together as if they were irrevocably intertwined. It may not be that simple. I hope this forum continues to be apolitical.

As far as privacy goes, if you live in EU/US, use CN/RU software/services and vice versa.
If you care about the security and you do not trust foreign products, it is other way around.

I suppose no one here can predict whether he will do so.
Uninstall it if you want to avoid any possible danger.

As far as I am aware Kaspersky is a global company and they moved their core operations from Russia to Zurich, Switzerland several years ago

The FSB connection cares little for geolocation or tax paradises.

Surveilance is more likely than FSB hijacking or coercing Kaspersky to use their software for infrastructure targeting ransomware deployment. Their hackers don't need an AV for that.
