So I have nothing to worry about as far as the Targus device installing some kind of monitoring device to my Windows 10 or BIOS?

Can it send information back to the Internet?
    Paranoid, much.

@NiceAndShy, did you have concerns about the original charger "installing some kind of monitoring device to my Windows 10 or BIOS?"

Now it seems you do for the Targus device. Why is that?
Is it because someone talked to you about that, maybe something you read or maybe you had run into a situation that your laptop had been compromised somehow?

EDIT. The subject of your thread is "VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM: Can a new charger install a virus on my laptop?"
--- If that's your real concern. let us know why. Let's stop the mystery please.
--- Replacing your battery with the correct battery is the utmost solution.

As far as the performance of the Targus device which you seem to be interested in, we can't tell if it suits the specifications for your laptop.

Are you having a difficult time researching the laptop manufacturer and the recommended the matching charger? We can help you on that if you'd like.
    Thank you for your reply!

    My problem:
I keep reading about how hackers are always trying to come up with new ways to access people's personal data so I'm always worried.

I'm using the Targus recharger and it works great.

Maybe you should stop reading conspiracy posts then, next you'll be telling us the Earth is flat and Trump is still the US President.

If you use a protective sleeve for the laptop inside, you should be OK:
Faraday Bag, Signal Blocking Bag for Cell Phones, Car Key Fob Protector, Signal Blocker and Faraday Cage, Anti-Car Theft, Anti-Hacking & Anti-Tracking Assurance, Radiation Protection (13.8x17.7inch)

Okay, perhaps I am out of line here. And willingly open myself to appropriate moderation, if deemed so.

But come on guys. Some of the replies here are completely inappropriate, and should be beneath you, seriously. Pause for a moment, reflect upon your pending thoughts, before recklessly jumping on any possible herd mentality.

Remember, not everyone may possess the same level of perception and/or awareness, as you. Deem issues the same as you, nor may they word them as so. I suggest you become a bit more informed on certain (other) subjects, before being rash and posting personally denigrating remarks toward others.

Disparaging, at another's expense, is not a good representation of personal characteristics.

JHC, give the 'tinfoil hat, and the like' BS, a break. It's completely uncalled for, in the grand scheme of things.

I read a hell of a lot, and can confidently say, that @NiceAndShy, has never been more than kind an respectful, in his/her postings. And warrants nothing less in return.

I'm not spotlighting anyone, as that is the least of my intent. But simply offering an objective opinion.

Most of those Faraday bags don't work well when new. Even if they do work new they often fail with use as the fibres flex with se.
