    Infected by Google redirect virus...UGH!!!!!

I'm totally responcible for this happening!!! Because of Covid, lost wages, got behind on everything. Let my virus/internet security suite lapse. What is the best suite out there right now? Is there a quicker fix to get rid of this virus?

As suggested by @f23948 you can use Malwarebytes. If you can't afford a paid version, you can run the trial version of MB, which will turn-off active monitoring after a week. You can use it post that as a free version, you won't have active monitoring but it will function almost the same way as a premium version.

If you need more options - you can also try using Free version of Kaspersky along with Malwarebytes as well. But you need to ensure you have Active Monitoring off on either of the softwares or else you will run into conflict, until MB's trial period is over.

@Samuria's tips are quite efficient. My answer is w.r.t keeping your PC safe even after removing the virus :)

Generally speaking, I use Microsoft Defender and never have issues. In the rare case that something comes up, I will run a malwarebytes scan to ensure all is good. (It's been more than a year though since i last ran that).

As far as paid software goes, I usually hear good things about Kapersky. If I was going to pay for something, that would probably be it. But like I said, I've been satisfied with Defender.

If you are short of funds, just enable Microsoft Defender. Malwarebytes and Spybot Search and Destroy are also free, but you have to manually update them. I use Norton plus LifeLock, but that's $115 a year. Don't have virus issues with it. I use MB and Spybot as backups in case something goes amiss.

As suggested, use the free Windows Defender and do an offline scan: How to Run a Microsoft Defender Offline Scan in Windows 10

Use MalwareBytes Free also to do a full scan as suggested.

Before I even posted my original post, I tried AVG and Malwarebytes. Both detected stuff, but didn't stop this virus. The only thing that changed, was Google was redirected to Yahoo, instead of Bing now. Samuria's comment above with the link to the YouTube did the trick! I removed a couple Chrome extensions that I don't remember installing. Also went through all the programs on my hard and removed a few of those as well. Rebooted, and now Google goes to Google! Yeah!!!

    Thanks Folks!

Wow! Do you have any idea how you got it? Just curious, what browser do you use? I also use Microsoft Defender. Have not had a problem.
