Well I thought this issue was resolved. It hasn't been. I did as directed and did malwarebytes, avg, and so on. As I mentioned they found issues, but never this redirect one that's taken over Google. After following all the steps in the video Samuria posted, for a brief time Goolgle worked it should. But slowly it started up again, first redirecting to Bing, then eventually Yahoo. I have NOT installed anything else since then. So this is buried in my current system someplace.

Sooo... I've been wanting to upgrade the boot drive on my box for some time. It's a refurbished Dell 9020 i7-4770. At that time they put a 160GB SSD drive in it. Which doesn't hold very much. Meanwhile I've a 1Tb drive I'd put in my PS3, which has been just collecting dust since I bought a PS4. I think you can see where this is leading...

There should be an image somewhere of Windows 10 buried in the system somewhere that I can use to install on that 1TB drive. What would be the best way about creating an image not tainted with the virus?

Do Clean Install Windows 10 to eliminate the malware concerns.

I wouldn't use "anything" from the 160GB drive.
Do a clean install of Windows 10.

    Clean Install Windows 10

You won't have to worry about the activation... it will automatically activate after the install.

Being my own advocate, I did some googling (via yahoo) after posting. Dell setup a restore program for making images. Just have to get my hands on a 16Gb usb, physically swap drives, and then reinstall from usb. Thank you dell for making this an easy process!!!!

Old hard drive aside, so I don't risk a fresh install, what's the best security suite? Other than using Norton, I'm open for suggestions. I use to swear by AVG or Kaspersky. But none of the free versions found this virus. Had any of them found it, I'd gladly had paid for it. I'm tight on funds, I want to KNOW it's going to work. In as much as I'm dealing with a virus that redirects me to a different search engine, I have no confidence that what results I would receive will be good or not. Even the Dell recovery program I mentioned above... I'm taking a BIG risk using that.

Windows Defender paired with Malwarebytes Free manual scan works well for me and many others.

Try software that can detect a browser hijacker.

'Glary Utilities' is one that detects modified url's.

There is a free and full version available. Plus side the free version gives you what you need for a quick diagnosis and repair options and really does give you the heads up on a potential problem with your settings. Try it.
It also has lots of other quite powerful tools alongside that.

If you dont really like the software, it'll uninstall fine and not leave junk all over the place.

    Safe

Wow!!! I totally forgot about Glary!!! So frustrated I couldn't get any of the usual programs to even find the damn virus! Following the video above, kind of got rid of it for a few days. I'll try Glary asap.
