    Data Breach Question

I use Mozilla/Firefox for emails - I was notified late yesterday that I had a data breach. I quickly changed my password to the account. Is there anything else I should do? Do I have to change my password for my other two email accounts? Thanks --

Hi, check your security details here: (Have I been pwned)
    Attention Required! | Cloudflare

This site scans 'the dark web' for lists of details being sold or available for use by other potential exploiters.

Note: I use a password manager, Roboform. This now automatically checks details as they are used and indicates if they are at risk.

Thanks so much for that. I have been using the internet for 24 years and have never been exposed to such as this. I changed my password and set up 2 factor verification for that account.

Good idea- and of course, separate security info for each account... & bear in mind if they hack an account where you've left credit card details, they might get some of that..

Hope not but possible. I have an alert system with my charge accounts that lets me know if anything over $50.00 is charged with a card or an alert if any amount is charged online. Hopefully if that info has been hacked, we do have some protection. Thanks.

When I went to set up 2 step verification on MSN it said I would need to scan a QR code. I don't have or want a smart phone so I don't know if I can do that after all. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If you're referring to the authenticator app, that's just an option, I believe:

What happens when you turn on two-step verification

If you turn on two-step verification, you’ll get a security code to your email, phone, or authenticator app every time you sign in on a device that isn't trusted. When two-step verification is turned off, you will only have to verify your identity with security codes periodically, when there might be a risk to your account security.

I see this when I go to the link for setting it up: so that's my confusion. Thanks.

As with most such things, the alternative to using a smart phone is obscure, as they want or expect people to go down one particular route.

Whilst I've not tried it, there is (should be) a way to use a code received by email.

You will note this is mentioned in passing in the tutorial.
Turn On or Off Microsoft Account Two-step Verification

Feel free to ask a question to confirm that under that tutorial.

I looked at the tutorial you supplied and it looks like I can just use a password to set up 2 step verification. I would assume this is the same password I have in place for signing in to msn account whenever asked for one. Thanks again.

Could you share the details of the data breach ? Data breach meaning someone had hacked or used your email ?
