Nah, i am still sticking with ESET
How about we look at some 2021 data: Antivirus and Cybersecurity Statistics, Trends & Facts 2021

I'm sure you'll say "Nah, I'm sticking with ESET"
Most popular means nothing as the majority of the people using these probably have zero clue as to how effective an anti-virus really is, they are swayed by advertising or word of mouth. Personally I would rather use most effective rather then most popular.
Microsoft Defender, augmented with Configure Defender and Simple Windows Hardening. IMO this combo is effective as any paid AV. Combined with an adblocker (UBO) and backup program and its all anyone needs. Take any test with a grain of salt but pretty much any AV tests done now have MD at or near the top.
GitHub - AndyFul/ConfigureDefender: Utility for configuring Windows 10 built-in Defender antivirus settings. Thanks - I'll have to look into this since I use Windows Defender myself.
Great. Basically its just a portable program that uses Windows build in settings that cannot be accessed thru regular channels. There's a large thread on MalwareTips, the developer posts there regularly and answers all questions.
