Best performance Panda Free
Best overall 360 TSE Free
EDIT: AV Comparatives performance results. Panda as the best and Defender as the worst.

Eset for as long as I can remember. Every once in awhile I'll experiment with others but always return to Nod32.
I do not want to use Microsoft Defender because last time it has bugs then Microsoft fixed it Windows Defender bug may fill your hard drive with thousands of files - gHacks Tech News
I have had no problems with Microsoft Defender on multiple computers for years.
Defender with Configure Defender and Simple Windows Hardening, nothing more is needed IMO.
False. All software has bugs, first-party or 3rd-party doesn't matter. Developers just work on a queue based on severity and priority. The absence of bug reports also does not mean the absence of bugs.
If you want to know more about software development in general, you can try looking at large open-source projects like VS Code from Microsoft.
Here is a real code repository maintained by Microsoft - Issues . microsoft/vscode . GitHub
Defender is excellent and well integrated, no 3rd parties can do that... It's been running unnoticed for years now for me. And Nothing occurred to make me think it was not doing it's job well.
MS/Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Premium does the job for me. Been using both going on 8 years now and haven't had any problems whatsoever.
