I just ran Belarc Adviser on my HP ProBook as configured by HP and was surprised to see a security score of only 3.76 /10. The report suggest changing many default Windows settings. What do people think of modifying the settings suggested?

Here's what I think about that report...
1. I never buy pre-built computers.
2. I install Windows myself. Just Windows, drivers, and local administrator account.
3. I don't use networks or shares. I disable all built in shares.
4. I disable all other accounts but my Local, Admin account.
Doing those things will remove 99% of those red X's.
However, I understand that not everyone is in a situation to be able to do those things.
Probably not. I would think a repair would set everything to how Microsoft wanted it.
And ofc, HP has their own wants and desires.
Add it all up and the end user's wants and desires are pretty much ignored.
But you can go through and change things.
Btw, Belarc over reacts somewhat also.
There are a lot of things I close (like I mentioned above), but I don't go crazy or anything.
Like "hidden shares", for example...

Scroll down till you see "Shields Up", click on that and then on Proceed. Then click on: "All Service Ports", to start it running.
