Norton was a guy years ago who wrote software for disk managment and things its now taken over. There are plenty of free Av the paid ones dont give you a lot more and in most cases the built in widow is good enough if your not going to dodgy sites

    hi gordie,

Todays Windows Defender is a full blown Firewall / Antivirus solution with enough bells and whistles to be managable. A secondary on demand antivirus is also advisable to have along with a good Anti-Malware / Spyware solution.

I'm not a good reference to give a top 5.

Personally I use Windows Defender and Malwarebyte.

When thing become too salty I use.

    Norton Power Eraser
    Clamwin
    Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool
    Kaspersky TDSKiller
    ESET Online Scanner

Yes, Norton is a good choice. Not sure about their VPN. See my 2 previous posts on how to install it and tweak Defender. Norton Plus is about 10$ at Best Buy, don't buy it online.

I second this. Windows Defender is really good these days. I run that along with occasional scans from SuperAntiSpyware, and I've been very happy for years.
