What can you tell me about McAfee AV?

On my old computer I was using Microsoft Defender and MBAM Premium. It seemed to me that defender only ran scans and never found anything. MBAM and Defender seemed to work ok until my computer died of power problems.
I bought a new low cost Dell computer which came with McAfee installed. I do not have anything good or bad to say about McAfee so what is your opinion?
    I'm using Windows 10 Home Version 21H1 (OS Build 19043. 1165)

Avoid, like the plagues it frequently misses on computers. It's bordering on being a piece of malware in itself.

For the home user, who is confident in practising safe computing, this will do.

If you want to consider a higher level, try Kaspersky (Internet Security level is enough).

Well given the developer was being investigated for tax evasion, and recently committed suicide in a Barcelona prison, I leave it to you to draw your own conclusions (even if he no longer owned it?).

    Hello @DavidG,

When browsing the Internet and working for companies, over the years you pick up a LOT of Tech stuff along the way. In my opinion, McAfee software is one of those things that you want to stay well CLEAR of, especially as there are better and stronger alternatives available.

    I hope this helps.

McAfee Cloud AV was great, but sadly they have abandoned the project in favor of enterprise customers only.

I tried Kaspersky Anti-Virus it says MBAM is an incompatible software. I have a lifetime license for MBAM. I checked the MBAM forum and they recommend MBAM and turning on Windows Defender. So that is what I have running. Kaspersky was on sale so I only lost $16.95, not a big deal at all.

Of course, you can not run 2 AVs at the time, it could cause BSOD and such.

That speaks for itself, how much trust they have in their own product.

MBAM always ran very well with Norton products. I had Norton for free from my ISP but they discontinued the offer.
