    How to remove LogMeIn

    I'm having problems logging in to my bank (RBS) - their helpdesk is no help at all.

    When I try to login, I get an error message

    We’re sorry you can’t log into Digital Banking. This is because we’ve detected that you have a program or a piece of software installed on your device that could allow another person to see and control your computer. This could be something called AnyDesk or LogMeIn.

    I've never fallen for the phone scam where they install LogMeIn or similar, and I've scanned and searched for hours and haven't found evidence of any rogue software. However, I think there's some virus or other because when I boot from a Ubuntu USB (bypassing Windows) I can log in to my bank OK.

    Any ideas as to how I can find and kill whatever software is causing me problems ?

    Systems - Windows 10 Pro, with Malwarebytes Premium on all networked pcs. Have scanned with Mbam, Trend Micro, Eset, Malicious software tool and others.

    @badcrc

    It seems your bank is complaining about "some" software that provides remote access.
    I would be going through my installed software list, and double checking every item.

    The offending item may not be remote access software but may have a remote access software component.
    Whatever the cause, it may be legit as well.

    If you feel comfortable doing so... post a screenshot of your installed software.

    I think I might have solved my banking problem.

    I'd recently downloaded a system-wide volume control - see Volume2 in screenshot above. I uploaded the exe (actually there was 2 exe's which immediately made me suspicious) to Virus Total and got just 1 hit. I uninstalled the app using Revo, with deep scan to get all remnants. I also searched using UltraSearch and found another file that I deleted.

    I tried to log on to my bank and was successful. I've since logged on 5 times, so I can cautiously say I've fixed it.

    A Google search found some info. The app has, by default, access to all keystrokes and so is a prime contender to transmit this data to some hacker. The report I read said 'avoid at all costs'.

    All that remains now is changing 2 dozen passwords. Luckily, the important ones like PayPal, Amazon + my bank etc have 2 factor authentication (one-time passcode sent to mobile phone).
