    WD off line scanning.

I use the free malwarebytes for several manual scans per week and Windows Defender for continual and weekly full scans. This pc is on the beta channel 21H1 and cannot run the offline scans although my other two pcs, a desktop and a laptop can run them no bother. Can I do something about this?

Unless you are visiting websites without regard to what they are, etc., and please accept that I do not mean that insultingly, your scanning is OTT
There is NO WAY you need Malwarebytes SEVERAL scans per week and neither do you need weekly full scans on Defender.

If you do not have the system partition and the recovery partition - defender offline scan will not initiate
You can click on it but nothing will happen

I'm sure that you are right in mentioning that my scanning is OTT, but if leaving the pc switched on while having a meal, for instance, I would set a scan to proceed while I was away which does not take up any of my time.
As for the particular pc not being able to do the offline scans when the others can, having the same settings still is a mystery to me. Six months ago, the pc could run offline scans, like the others.

Other pc's on the beta channel ?

Consider updating to 19043.1110, released 13 Jul or a stable earlier version.

I have just checked and that is what I'm on now. The fault has persisted through several major updates. The other pc's are not on the beta channel, one is home and the other is pro, both 64bit.

    Well...

You may want to do more research, but don't be too concerned. From years of reading this forum and other sites, the WD offline scan seems to be somewhat irrevelant. Haven't read of any malware discoveries. Upon completion of the scan, results are not readily available. Most rely on regular scans with WD, Malwarebytes, or another reputable AV.

Last thought, if the offline scan worked before you may want to try a System Restore and run sfc/scannow.

IMHO you should report the apparent problem to the Insider site, that is the purpose of the Insider BETA channel
To test the software and report problems

Also now we know it is an Insider edition your post could most properly be in
    https://www.tenforums.com/windows-insider/

where other Insider users MAY have encountered the problem
