I dropped Avast AV a long time ago when I had a problem that could not be solved, in my case, it involved a DLL file error. OP, I hope you can get Avast to solve the problem you are having with them.

well given its shooting amazon connections down I dont think they'll sit on it...amazon's too big a site to have run afoul of an AV frakkup like this for very long.
Avast is properly blocking the webpage that resembles a threat (like IDN). If anything, Amazon is to blame.
Either way, when you are using webshield, you are breaking https by injecting Avast's fake SSL certificate.
....honestly? the only frustrating part of this whole experience hasn't been the web shield blocking amazon..no, its been that complete utter wank tool DavidR over on the avast forums, whose convinced that if he's not seeing the problem, then no one else should be either and frankly, its taking every last ounce of professionalism and a looped mental mantra of 'he's not worth the permaban' to stop myself telling him exactly where to get off and what to get off with...
at least over here there's no condescension or 'I'm right you're wrong you WILL do as I say and believe'. I think in the future, other than the odd false positive report, I'll not ever visit the avast forums again, its not worth the stress of dealing with complete utter tools.
for the record, I normally have an exceptional level of patience when it comes to computer problems, but when you toss in a complete moron(polite word for what I really wanna use) into the mix...I'm just...done.
Why not getting rid of AVAST and using Windows Defender? I have used AVAST in the past and it fails sometimes because it's bloated now and maybe not that properly coded.
