Can I Delete Old Windows Security Stuff?
The folder at the end of this path--C:>ProgramData>Microsoft>Microsoft Antimalware>Scans>MetaStore--contains 4 folders named 1, 2, 3, 4. Each of these 4 folders contains a few to a few dozen numbered folders and 1 1-KB file of file type 'IDX File.' Many, maybe most, of the numbered folders are empty. The remainder contain 1 or 2 files of file type 'DAT File.' The latest 'Date modified' on any of these things is 8-23-2015. I'm guessing that's about the time I stopped using Windows Defender/Microsoft Security Essentials and started using other security products.
At this point this stuff looks like pure garbage. Assuming W10 will let me delete those 4 folders, is it safe to do so? I know there are those who will say not to touch 'system' stuff, but I've done so with no harm. And I have cleaning tools that delete 'system' stuff with no harm done. Also, I'm not sure it's accurate to call Defender/MSE 'system.' If there's anything else in the Antimalware folder that can be deleted, I'll delete that also. So, what say you?
Thanks.
