eMAil Attachment With Avast Problem ?

    Hi,

If not in the correct Forum, I apologize.
Figured someone here would know what is going on. I miss many of the nuances these days; old age problem again.

    Always something new.

Have been getting eMails with a small envelope icon, a check mark, and a line that says Virus Free and a link to the Avast site.

All that opens up, ever, irrespective of what I check on, envelope, check mark, etc. just takes me to the Avast site.

Can't open up the actual photo or video that the sender is sending me.

Not sure if the "problem" is on the senders side, my side, or both.

Avast isn't saying there is a virus.
Simply want me to sign up for allowing even more marketing Cookies, etc.

Any thoughts on this, and what to do would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi, is this from
    a. senders you expect mail from and know
    b. one particular sender?
    c. Do you recognise the sender's email address
    d. Have you contacted the sender?

If the sender is using Avast, that explains why that appears at the foot of the email. Quite normal.

How are you receiving the mail? Are you using an email client (program) - if so, which?

You appear to be using Win 7. Is that correct?

Have you inspected the source (code) of the email itself - the header - e,g, here's part of one:

    Received-SPF: pass (zohomail.com: domain of bounce.mail.hotels.com designates 66.231.82.111 as permitted sender) client-ip=66.231.82.111; envelope-from=bounce-3994435_HTML-1810011771-22837120-177351-24163@bounce.mail.hotels.com; helo=mta.email.hotels.com;

It's just the signature added by Avast to say that it scanned the email and any attachments before it was sent. It can be turned off by the user.

Remove: This Email Has Been Sent from a Virus-Free Computer Protected by Avast

It could be considered a safety feature - or maybe you might consider it as Avast promoting itself.
