AdwCleaner: set to put Logs in folder with exe?

I acquired and ran AdwCleaner for the first several times today, and found that when it runs it creates a new AdwCleaner folder on C: and parks its Logs there. Is there a way to direct it to park its logs in the folder that contains the executable?

    Otherwise, it's an interesting tool.

Can you explain, more in detail what you mean by executable?

There is no obvious setting or initialisation file to change the folder location

It's the program which runs AdwCleaner, currently adwcleaner_8.2.exe

As far as I can tell there are no Startup Switches, or Configuration/Initialisation files to change. You can move the Executable to where you want it seems the only option.

If the log destination is hard-encoded then all you can do is go along with it, create C:\AdwCleaner and stick the executable in the folder.

Hey, Steve. Thanks for looking at my query.

Of course, if there were an obvious setting, I'd have found it, and if an ini had been produced by the exe, I'd have edited that (or tried editing it) to see whether I could change this annoying behaviour, but alas, neither a relevant setting nor an ini is to be found, as you quite rightly observed.

I guess I was hoping somebody here had found a way (perhaps through a CLI trick) to tell the program to leave the System drive alone. Like gazillions of other experienced users, I try to keep my System drive as free from non-system files as I can, and I was just a little bit surprised (not worried, just surprised) by the unannounced intrusion of this program into that drive, and the absence of any obvious setting or editable ini to change that behaviour.

    Tx again.

Seems to be the only clear road ahead, if I'm going to continue to run the program occasionally. Thanks, Rick.

Wisewiz, the other alternative, which is what I have been doing for years: After creating adwcleaner folder in your desired location, simply move the logs into that desired location and delete the root folder. Like you, I like to keep C:\[root] clean. So, I end up moving several different log piles to my data partitions' respective designated folders, then deleting the C:\[log folders], throughout the year.

Thanks, Roland. I've decided the program's results window is informative enough and uniquely different from Defender and Malwarebytes reports, so I'm going to keep it and run it once in a while for the info it provides. I'll do as you say -- and as I do anyway -- move the logs to my Tools drive and dump the C:\ folder.

Maybe you could write a script file to run the exe and then after it completes move the log file to another location.
