    Thanks, SoFine. That's an interesting idea.

    I'd have to put a long Pause in it, to let the executable finish, then the next two steps would move the files and then delete the empty folder.

    The more I consider it, the more I conclude that I'll just run the program (from my Tools drive) periodically, read the results, and then dump the C:\ folder. As with most things in life, it's no big deal.

    Thanks again.

    Decided to try your suggestion. This worked perfectly: Log goes in the Logs folder in the same Tools drive folder as the executable, and the C:\AdwCleaner folder is deleted when it exists.

    Batch file text:

    @echo off
    "D:\Malware Tools\AdwCleaner\AdwCleaner.exe" /scan /path "D:\Malware Tools\AdwCleaner"
    rd /s /q C:\AdwCleaner
    exit

    Found the info I needed by entering "D:\Malware Tools\AdwCleaner\AdwCleaner.exe" /?
    at the Command Prompt.

    Thanks to all for the input.

    Happy to do it and happy I found it. Works beautifully and shows the scan process in a Command Prompt window as it runs. The way I've set it up in the batch, it doesn't clean or reset anything, it just gives me the log, so that IF it finds anything for me, I can take action as I wish.

    I should have pointed out that I discovered the Command Prompt query (the /?) for the executable at https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner, under the screen shot of the user interface: second dot from the left.

    [update]
    Here's what the AdwCleaner folder looks like on my D: now, with no AdwCleaner folder on C:AdwCleaner: set to put Logs in folder with exe?-clipboard-snapshot.jpg

    (The reason for the rd command is that when you run the AdwCleaner.exe file, the first thing it does is create a C:\AdwCleaner folder. This batch gets rid of that folder before the ink is dry.)

    I took the initiative to leave a support ticket with Malwarebytes as below. I suggest those similarly aggrieved do likewise.

    There is no user option to select the AdwCleaner log file location and all log files are dumped in C:\AdwCleaner which is inconvenient for many users. Please provide an option to select the log file location. See AdwCleaner: set to put Logs in folder with exe?

    It was a lucky “right off the top of the head” guess on my part. Glad it worked for you.

    I had a reply saying they had passed my request to their product development team for consideration

    @Steve C
    @SoFine409

    Okay, so I finally got a real response from a Malwarebytes person this morning. There is a context menu in the MWB icon that lets you click the command "Quit Malwarebytes." I have asked them several times to send me instructions for setting a shortcut to make [select icon, right-click icon, scroll to desired command, left-click command] a one-click process.

    Finally got this today:
    "Unfortunately, for security reasons, such a shortcut command is not available as it would be a method of infiltration for the 'bad actors'. All they would need to do to circumvent a security software is to run such a command to disable it and launch their malware files."

    Well, at least this indicates that there is a glimmer of hope that someone there will consider our request for AdwCleaner to offer the option of NOT creating a log-storage folder on C:. A glimmer is better than total darkness.
