What is currently the best Antivirus in your opinion?

What is currently the best Antivirus in your opinion? Paid and Free.

I currently use Avast and was wondering if there may be something better around.

You ask 10 people, you'll get 10 answers.

The difference is protection for the top 10 or so anti-virus programs is very minimal, pick the one that runs best on your machine, use an adblocker, safe computing practices and your good to go.

I prefer a free option, most paid options provide the exact same protection (for the most part) as the free option with added bloat such as a wifi inspector or driver updater, garbage imo.

Defender is as good as any free option, if you add Configure Defender its just as good as any paid option.

Avast (AVG) is fairly good dealing with fileless malware, but Kaspersky is the top, from the free ones.

There is no best antivirus, but there is best method regarding AV.

    Windows defender for everyday use.

For virus scan (ex. once per month) First use Windows Defender as a scan reference point, then perform a scan with:
Kaspersky and malwarebytes individually with reboot between installments of AV.
Use heuristic setting depending on how much time you want to spend scanning, also depends on amount of data on your drive.

Those 3 together are the best, it will almost always find something.

Windows Security (Defender), and Malwarebytes, work well together.

As mentioned prior, safe computing practices, goes a long way, no matter what you decide upon.

    Best of luck.
