Hello @ricardobohner,
Did ANY of the suggestions in this thread help you to make a decision yet?
Yes, all of them.
This will not be a popular answer I think - but I have used Norton Security for years and never had an issue - I say it's not popular as there is quite a lot of anti feeling against Norton products I think. But it's good - I don't have any issues with it slowing the system (as apparently it used to do in the old days). It's unobtrusive in the background, does it's job. Doesn't seem to slow anything up. It spots dodgy downloads, dodgy websites, removes tracking cookies and once saved me from a nasty trojan on a usb stick. Comes top of the reviews most years. I keep using it because - it has never caused any issues and works. I have never had a virus. I might have had a trojan if I hadn't had Norton installed.
I also have malwarebytes free - to do an occasional manual scan - it picks up anything an antivirus program might miss - and PUPS etc.
Plus Panda USB vaccine on all my machines (since the nasty trojan/usb episode). The trojan on the usb got there from another old pc I was fixing. The dangers of buying used PC's and fixing them! I think it's very useful. Prevents usb's autorunning (the virus is usually in the autorun part of the usb stick). It's only a small program, and vaccinates every usb that you put in the computer.
Safe use is important as well but - well it's security.
Tried Kaspersky and Bitdefender - I had false positives on both, and the Kaspersky one actually rendered my system inoperable due to removing the false positive and I had to reinstall. Tried Avira but it was slow and resource heavy So I stick with Norton (was Norton Security now called Norton 360 again) as it has never caused any issues in 12 years. I usually get it for £30 for five licences (if you shop around).
I know it's not popular! But my OH insists on Norton and we've never had any issues.
Thank you all.
I'm using BullGuard and Sophos but it's personal preference to which suits your needs.
Windows Defender and Malwarebytes. This is one of dozens of threads on the same topic. You will see dozens of the same replies and opinions.
Common sense is free and works well.
