    context menu

20H2 used to have Defender and MBAM as choices to scan but since I recovered an image form Macrium it does not show these.
Is it possible as I use these apps more that they become part of the right click context menu.
I know I would not have removed these and do not like to play with the registry.

    Hello Peter,

The Scan with Microsoft Defender context menu should be available by default when you right click on an item unless an install 3rd party AV program is registered and disabled Windows Defender AntiVirus.

Add or Remove Scan with Microsoft Defender Context Menu in Windows 10

Since you have MBAM installed, make sure this below is turned off to allow both MBAM and Windows Defender to run together.

I have MBAM free and that button is off.
Can this be rectified without registry changes as I have never used it before?

You could try using the tutorial below to add the context menu back.

Is Windows Defender Antivirus real-time protection turned on like below?

I am currently on my phone and as soon as I am on my computer I read your information thoroughly and be back to you. Thank you

I installed optional updates. I did as you say with defender. I also downloaded the defender file yet I still have no defender or MBAM context right click.
I have some work to do. Thank you

May I ask, am I not using this context feature correctly?
When should I be able to see Defender and MBAM in it? When I click on the desktop or on an open page I see the attachment. I have run SFC, performed a different Macrium recovery, am updated except or optional ones but have not seen either app.
Is it possible I am looking for these apps in context menu by right clicking the wrong way or place?

You will only see the AV context menus when you right click on a file, folder, or drive.
