No windows defender after installing windows

    Hi,
After updating from windows 7 to windows 10 I found that I did not have windows defender installed.
I went through several methods and was advised to do a clean installation via the internet.
This did not change much. Windows Defender Service Missing; Security at a glance page is Empty >> Winhelponline

On another forum I was told my computer may struggle with windows 10 because the specs are not good enough. Particularly because its dual core.
I am hoping there is something I can do to have defender. Thanks.

HP stream note book PC 14 - seems to be from around 2016/17 - is that correct? - so seems a little surprising it had Win 7 on it.

    I went through several methods
    - could you list these so people don't waste time suggesting the same please?

When you upgraded, did you have a 3rd party AV installed?

However, it seems you have also tried a clean install of Win 10.
When you did that, did you
    - create a bootable Win 10 installation medium using the MS media creation tool
    - boot your PC from that
    - delete all O/S partitions and install to unallocated space on disk?

Hi, is it possible the OP is referring to his system 2 specs?

When you did the clean install via the internet, did you download Win10 from the MSN site or an alternate site ?

Recommend another clean install with download from official site.

1 In addition to answering dalchina's questions including

2 please would you explain what method you used to check that you did not have windows defender installed.

3 Please enter this in File explorer's address bar and either post a list of its subfolders or post a screenshot of what you see there.
    Code:
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform

I am referring to System Two

    - could you list these so people don't waste time suggesting the same please?
