I use Windows Defender with ConfigureDefender set on High and Ublock Origin. I also use MS Edge with Smart Screen enabled. Edge is my default browser. I have tried other paid and free antivirus, they really don't do anything Windows can not do for itself. Defender is very good by itself and with Configure Defender it is every bit as effective as the paid AV's. I have had no problems at all with Defender.

Best I have been using...AVTest confirmed

Great that you got your issue fixed but why chance Panda making the same issue reappear? I have been using Windows Defender which tops out on AVTest site and along with Malwarebytes Premium...you can get the Premium version of Malwarebytes on newegg for like half the cost of the site price...been about maybe four years now? no issues, no problems. Take care... :)

Wonder what anti-virus of choice do the folks on this forum use ? I recently had problem with my os that thanks to Tekkie Boy and others helped me to get fixed. Great bunch of folks here! Since it has been repaired and working great,I have been using Windows Defender as my AV and firewall. I have a paid version of Panda Dome and was thinking about reinstalling it. I just don't want to put what you folks here fixed to waste. Don't want it to mess up my windows update etc. So....just asking what you folks use.

    Hi LucyDog,

I used Norton for years, but did not renew last year. Now using Windows Security, and no issues at all.

I also have MalwareBytes Premium (lifetime).

I used to use Norton but they started selling lifelock and lifelock is a ripoff. You can do your own thing they do for free. Lock all three credit bureaus reports to freeze your credit and even if anyone gets your details they couldnt do anything with them because you have a frozen credit whereas they could not open anything using your details and check your credit all the time with the free stuff online. What does this have to do with the virus stuff? Well lifelock is a ripoff and is bundled with Norton now and Norton made some other changes that show they are interested in your money more than your computer issues.
Many folks will not repeat the same action that caused them issues so for me reinstalling Panda would be a no way deal.

I took some techs advice about four years ago and now run Windows 10 Defender and the built in Security along with Malwarebytes (save some bills by buying it from newegg) and in those four years, have had absolutely no issues with my computers and I use Firefox with a few recommended extensions. Cannot go wrong with that.
Good luck and have a good rest of your week... :)
