Hi, this question is repeatedly asked. Please feel free to research threads on this.

It is never recommended to leave your system without a firewall and AV. Defender provides both.

Why do you wish to do so? What frustrates you about it?

If you care to consult the tutorials section you will find:
How to Turn On or Off Microsoft Defender Antivirus in Windows 10
Turn On or Off Real-time Protection for Microsoft Defender Antivirus

    for example.

If you install a 3rd party AV some functions of Defender are disabled automatically, including some of the more advanced ones.

In several threads people conlude 'Defender is good enough'.

Hello @Egweimai , welcome to Ten Forums.

    Get Autoruns here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sys...loads/autoruns

Extract it to a folder, anywhere, and run: Autoruns64.exe

    1. Set the Options like shown.
    2. Search for windows defender.
    3. Un-check the boxes shown.
    4. Reboot the computer.
    5. Open Services.msc and disable any Services that say Mircosoft Defender or Windows Defender.

Are you sure it wasn't UAC or Smartscreen?

Thank you very much for your reply.

Defender has certain features such as blocking downloads and asking permission, smartscreen, controlled folder access.

I suggest you look at what your problem is, read the relevant tutorial, and see how best to deal with this.

Simply hacking part of the O/S which is likely to be reversed on any upgrade is perhaps not the way to go.

Please cite an example of your problem with a screenshot.

    Example tutorials:
Enable or Disable Microsoft Defender PUA Protection in Windows 10
Add or Remove Allowed Apps for Controlled Folder Access in Windows 10
Enable Windows Defender Exploit Guard Network Protection in Windows 10
Enable or Disable Windows Defender Exploit Protection Settings
Turn On or Off SmartScreen for Apps and Files from Web in Windows 10

The directions I gave you will work, but it's probably not a good idea.

You want some kind of protection. Most on here run Windows Defender, and Malwarebytes for a 2nd opinion.
    Some have a 3rd party AV/firewall instead.

If you see something like this.....

...when running a file you downloaded, then you just need to unblock the file.
