Well if mentioning other search engines try:

    Qwant

Type something in the seach bar then select "Videos" > Source = YouTube.

Then "watch" but not the youtube button.

Best thing would be to change your browser away from Chrome and onto something else.
I'd just like to say that i use firefox, or specifically, i use waterfox. It seems like waterfox can install addons from both firefox and chrome's websites, so i have the luxury of using many different types of addons, to try and solve some of these problems.

Firefox & Youtube. This works for me.

    Set all as shown. If media.autoplay.blocking_policy = 2 doesn't work try =1
Then click Autoplay settings and set to block.
That seems to stop ordinary videos from being played as well. If i search for a video on youtube and click on it, it will not be played. So i have to click on it again. I only want to stop videos from autoplayed, not ordinary videos.

It's block all from autoplay or none. No choice.
