Yeah that didn't work either. I'm done, I'm freaking done. Can't believe they are legally permitted to sell this crap...
Windows Defender is not crap! It a good built in antivirus for your Windows OS and many people like it more than 3rd party antivirus when it come to bugs and ads.

This! I've used MSE since Windows 7, and now WD on 10. That's all anyone needs unless you go creeping around the net in places you shouldn't. Then maybe get a more detailed antivirus to protect your bad self. HaHa I've not once had any issues with viruses, malware, spyware, etc. while using MSE or WD. WD does an excellent job right out of the box.

Interesting to see, how people passionately fight for their beloved AV, to the death.
But the fact is, that WD always gets the lowest detection score from well known brands.

For a free built in antivirus with 96.2% detection, heck yeah that is pretty amazing. I don't really trust AV comparatives chart at all because their test is like grain of salt. They never tell us how old is the sample they are testing, and are they using default settings or modified settings?

I rather trust antivirus test with a video demonstrate their prevention and detection capability rather than looking on the chart with many questions that need to answers.

Having 96% chance of wining a lottery is great chance, but catching 96% of known viruses is not. 100% is usually like a billion, so missing 4% is a lot. Virus database is shared between AV companies, so the lack of percentage is the lack of a response time. I mention known viruses, the detection of zero day viruses by the best AV is only about 60%. WD's is ~5%.
This explain why Kaspersky and BitDefender achieved perfect detection score because BitDefender and Kaspersky share all their detection samples. This is not a proper way to test antivirus but rather advertise and this is why I don't trust AV comparatives testing method at all. If you want a real live antivirus test, search ThePCSecurityChannel, SecurityFirst, MaxCyberDefense, and MalwareDoctor on Youtube. These video live test is worth more than AV comparatives chart and written paper.

4% miss is a lot, but Windows Defender is good when catching known threats. For zero threats, it still doing good for a built in antivirus. Plus, many people move to Windows Defender because they are less bug and ads and it come with the OS.
