Problems with Windows Security Ransomware Protection - Solved

Windows 10.0.19042: I've had 2 apps fail due to the way Windows Security has implemented Ransomware Protection. 1ClickDVD would not let me register a new version and Microsoft Works (Word and Spreadsheet) would only allow me to open read-only copies, stating that the copy was "already in use". Both of these items were fixed by going into Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection>Ransomware Protection>Manage Ransomware. Here you will find a history of blocks. Each block contains the app name being blocked and the folder being protected. If you have a valid app being blocked, you can allow the app though Ransomware, or you can take the folder (from the block history) out from under Ransomware control.

    Welcome to Ten Forums wgiambatista.

Yes, that is the price you have to pay for Controlled Folder Access (aka ransomware protection) - sometimes you'll need to allow an app that it does not already have on its 'known/trusted' list. But your title should perhaps include the word 'Solved' as you have found out how to allow those apps that may get blocked. And once on the 'allowed' list that app will not be interrupted by ransomware protection again.
