Hi Max, I understand your frustration but I don't think you can totally blame AMD for the problem---I would be blaming MSI. Here we have a situation with three users, yourself, Craxton and myself. We are all using X570 chipsets and Ryzen 5600x CPU's----not the Pro version..
My motherboard is an ASUS and it works fine. Craxton's motherboard, unknown vendor, works with the latest "d BIOS". Your MSI fails even with the latest BIOS.
MSI have nothing in their manual that I can see that states having to use a 5600 Pro and yet they have the BIOS settings etc. to implement the feature. Would need them to respond to your ticket to verify one way or the other that it'll work as is, or if it needs a BIOS update or whatever.
Fitting the discrete TPM should make it work but if not, could be a faulty board which will still be under warranty and you could RMA.
No need to do the INVLD DATE check for me--an Australian has verified that my findings are correct and it is an outstanding Microsoft problem
    Regards,
    RTL.

    Hi all,

allright - got the original MSI TPM module installed today. did a re-install just for the sake of it. did secure erase on both SSD's and disabled AMD fTPM and enabled discrete TPM.

THE ERROR IS ¤%&/("¤¤ STILL THERE. im sure this will produce gray hair.

So now i am sure its the MSI board which is faulty. I will see if i can get the board RMA'ed. I cant see it can be anything else than the mainboard TPM handling which is defective with all i have tried.

So - just to share the status. both AMD fTPM and Original MSI Discrete TPM module gives the same error.

    will keep you posted..

Hi Max, Sorry to hear your problem still exists. This has to be something silly causing this. Looking back through the thread, I see in Post #12 that you enabled encryption on the Samsung 980 (?). When I built my two PC's, I just installed the disks as they came straight from the box. I did nothing to them prior to loading Windows. My disks are Samsung NVMe M.2 970 EVO PLUS's. I don't have a Samsung driver for my disk.
I see in Post #28 that you have a SATA SSD you could use. I can't see if you tried that or not. What about connecting that up and loading Windows to it to eliminate the Samsung 980 PRO? When you load Windows do a clean and convert to GPT as per this link.
Leave it set for the Discrete TPM initially.

On edit:- Just downloaded and installed Samsung Magician. Says my drive Encryption is disabled!

    Hi RTeel,

Thanks mate. And by the way im glad to hear that you got the INVLD DATE verified, that it was not just you who had the issue.

I have tried with and without magician. Magician is hardware encryption, so if it shows as not encrypted in magician, it can still be bitlocker (software) encrypted just not using samsungs chips to do so. If you enable encryption in magician, bitlocker will use samsungs hardware encryption.

So both with and without magician it failed. I have a sata ssd, but i need it to work on the 980 pro on m2 for the OS otherwise it doesnt make sense. So as it also keeps failing with discrete TPM it assures me that its the board.

I called my hardware pusher, explained the situation, and he told me to just disassemble the pc and send back the board, he would refund my money full, and let me purchase an Asus x570 Rog Strix Gaming-E instead. I got bit fed up with this build, and if MSI is the reason, it has to go. also the rgb software was super annoying. (Dragon center) So appreciated my HW pushers suggestion, I must say its great service..

Allright, conclusion must be that it is the AMD Ryzen 5600x CPU which is failing.

I have tried everything now. I have switched out each and every hardware component besides the CPU. Its a complete new pc basically, which still cant bitlock the drives neither with AMD fTPM nor with discrete TPM devices.

I have tried it with different hardware:

    Motherboards tried:
    MSI MAG x570 Tomahawak WIFI
    Asus Rog STRIX x570 Gaming-E

    Memory tried:
G.Skill TridentZ Neo (was only compatible from memory QVL point of view (tried all sticks one by one and 1-2-4 config)
G.Skill Aegis (QVL approved by both motherboard and memory)

    Harddrives tried:
    Samsung 980 PRO m2
    Intenso SSD Sata

    TPM Modules tried:
    AMD fTPM (Firmware)
    MSI MS-4136 (Discrete)
    Asus TPM SPI (Discrete)

    Windows versions:
Windows 10 Pro in danish, english and US on 4 different USB keys, just to rule out media issues. I have re-installed Windows 10 Pro around 50-60 times with bitlocker attempt each time.

The only thing in the build which has remained is the cpu: AMD Ryzen 5600x.

Therefore i would have to conclude that it seems that this particular example has a bug / defect in the encryption part. (have no clue if thats even a thing) Otherwise it is not possible for me to explain this behavior. I have tried all possible configurations in BIOS on both (not really cheap) motherboards, according to MS whitepapers, and forum guides and member suggestions.

It seems my 5600x is flawed. just to sum everything up.

I give up. I will try to build a new platform based on Intel and see if it makes any difference.

    thanks all

    Hi all,

just wanted to put closure on this thread. I got a replacement CPU from AMD after several tickets and many many evidences, screenshots, photos and even a youtube video of the system failing.

After inserting the replacement 5600x, bitlocker worked like a charm.

    Thanks all,
    Max
