Microsoft Defender and keyloggers, is it effective?

I tried searching online and get various opinions, but would like to get new answers as of 2021. My laptop runs W10 pro.
So, can I trust Defender to protect me from keyloggers? I also use the on screen keyboard, but I'm not sure if the Windows keyboard is that effective. Thank you for your help. Ed

You should get SpyShelter, if you are particularly concerned about keyloggers.
But you strike me as a guy, who would benefit from Norton (US made software).

Or you can additional protection for free, starting with a safer DNS, like Quad9. HitmanPro performs a fast scan daily at startup. Browser extensions to block malicious links like Netcraft, Bitdefender, Malwarebytes.

    Thanks for the help, friends.

BTW. I ran Norton Power Eraser, and it found nothing.
