Turn on Bitlocker not available on new thumb drive

Got a couple of ADATA UV128 32GB USB 3.2 flash drives, Bitlocker is not an option with these drives and was wondering why. Have 2, both act the same. Lexar drive shown for comparison. Tx

If reformatting the drive (save the contents somewhere else first) doesn't cause the option to appear after ejecting and re-inserting, it could be the drive. OTOH, one must be logged into an admin account for this option to appear. Might that also be a contributing factor here? You tell me.
There's a Microsoft DOCs discussion thread that links to a list of "disk configurations supported by BitLocker" that also might be relevant here (worth reading: includes a fair amount of interesting and useful information). Be sure to check it out.

ED Tx for that link. Went down several lines when I found this and it worked.
" A friend at work discovered the following: Insert the USB stick in question - In Disk Manager right click on the partition and Delete Volume then New Simple Volume. After this the Explorer Context menu has the Turn on Bitlocker function. We tested on a few work machines and it worked - however, you need admin rights and our users at work dont! Does this help anyone diagnose the issue? Thanks,
I discovered this workaround today as well.
The only step you are missing is after formatting in Disk Management, you need to physically disconnect and reconnect the removable drive. Then the "Turn on Bitlocker" button appears in the Explorer context menu."

I had to use Mini Tool Partition to create a new volume. Tx again Ed, would have never been able to find that by myself.

You're very welcome. That's what makes continued participation worthwhile. Happy New Year, too.
