Prevent "Do you want to open this file?" for Desktop Shortcut URL's

    Hi all -

    Have this strange problem.

Take a peek - just an example of the error not the application type:

Prevent "Do you want to open this file?" for Desktop Shortcut URL's-unsafefile.jpg

This occurs with all desktop shortcuts to URL's after I reset my Default Apps in PC Settings.
Checked and made temporary changes to UAC, Smart Screen, Group Policy, to no avail.

What when wrong and how can I correct this? Strange.

    Many thanks!

    OMG.

Microsoft is relying on the similar settings within Internet Explorer to manage this?
IE is not even active on my system, since I "uninstalled" it long ago.

More importantly - are these settings accessible under PC Settings?

I can't seem to find any way of drilling down there except for Internet Options in the classic Control Panel.

    What a pitiful design!

P.S. Yes, this worked for me, thanks.

Some of the things MS does doesn't make sense to me. I'd like to think that they have some genius reason for some things that they do, but then I start to wonder if I am giving them too much credit

Well, it didn't work for long, lol. Don't know why. Weird.

So I opened an instance of Powershell and did this just to my Desktop folder:

    > get-childitem "C:\Users\Name of Folder Path\Desktop" | unblock-file

Everything is back to normal but this is not the answer and the cause still mystifies me.

Now, what is the Powershell command to undo this, i.e. block all files in a folder?
I don't see a way to pipe it as to block all.

    Have you?

    FWIW.

That's odd. Will look into it in the AM.
