I don't think any consumer AV software on the market today would detect this stuff. Heck, if it snuck into all of those highly protected classified systems, I'll bet it could sneak into your system without even breaking a sweat.
Microsoft Defender has blocked and removed this threat for the last five days, after detecting/warning over the last week:

Starting on Wednesday, December 16 at 8:00 AM PST, Microsoft Defender Antivirus will begin blocking the known malicious SolarWinds binaries. This will quarantine the binary even if the process is running.

Hmm, looks like everyone should enable Defender periodic scanning, update the threat protection, and scan your device!

Darn, just when I thought the nuclear launch codes I had hidden on my PC were safe this happens.

The NIS package on my system also has updated for this threat. I’m running a subscription version and it updates multiple times a day sometimes. The MSERT run I did yesterday did not find anything, so I’m feeling better about this issue now.

Jamis, I'm fairly certain that the Russians aren't interested to hack into your computer, just remember an updated computer is a strong protection layer.
Agreed, we're just not "important" enough...
