How secured I am if Windows Security stopped a downloaded file?

    Hello,

I asked from someone on another modding forum to help me with trying to make my old graphics card work with an old motherboard. He modded the vBIOS of the graphics card and uploaded it to a website called ufile.io... immediately after I clicked download I got this message from Windows Security:

How secured I am if Windows Security stopped a downloaded file?-virus-lol-bastard.png

Was the problem in the file itself (I didn't even open it yet!) Or it was something in this website?
I mean.. do you think the forum moderator there who helped me tried to make me install a virus?
This is the link to the second page of my post there with the link to the website of the download:

Forum - RE: Can't get R9 290 GPU to work with my motherboard - could it be a BIOS problem? - 2

Am I safe if it stopped it? Or there are sophisticated viruses that go behind the protection and stay dormant until it's time for action?

If it's not been executed or opened, you should be fine.

You can upload the file to Virustotal, for example, for further analysis, if you have it.

Thank you. I don't have the file, I think the defender stopped it while downloaded, so maybe there was a problem in the website itself trying to do something malicious (or false-positive)? Here's a full picture of the analysis:

The file is 2 years old, if it were a virus, some AV would have detected it by now.

    VirusTotal

Defender detected it, because it execute commands, as expected from a BIOS file.

The vBIOS file being from a modded version, from another computer, unsigned, all that, made Defender see it as a classic Trojan. There's probably nothing wrong with it at all.

You could turn of Smart Filter if you really need it and see if it comes thru.
