Windows Defender Antivirus Service service terminated

    Hello,
I have problem with Windows Defender on Windows 10 Home (20H2 version). I'm still getting this error in Event Viewer:
The Windows Defender Antivirus Service service terminated with the following error:
    General access denied error
I already tried to use sfc /scannow and DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth but it didn't help at all. Windows Defender still unexpectedly turns off during normal use. It can startup on boot and then unexpectedly turn off with this error in Event Viewer.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Just a question that the answer to may help, Do you have another/third-party antivirus program installed? If so it could be interfering with Defender.

The event viewer entry should have a numeric code. May want to google the code number for info.

Is your system current with updates, including WD ? If you are current, do an online scan with ESET or another online scanner.

(Also, please update your My Computer info to indicate build number and other info)

"Free Virus Scan | Online Virus Scan from ESET | ESET" ESET is very good! However, make sure you set Quarantine as default, because without Quarantine set as default, ESET can simply delete what it deems is worthy of deletion, and there is only one way to recover what you really wanted to keep: full image restore, or reinstall of deleted 3rd party stuff.
