I've always had Ransomware protection turned on in W10. Don't know why really, the bad guys wouldn't get much from me.

Anyway, lately protected folders has been going Rambo on me. The last couple of days it's been warning me that explorer.exe is trying to access a protected folder so I decided to whitelist it. But while I was picking the explorer folder it threw up another warning that pickerhost.exe was trying to access a protected folder. So basically MS is saying if you want to whitelist a folder you'll have to add our "folder picker" to the whitelist too.

I used to just leave it off. Might start doing so again.
