    We think so.

We've used it exclusively as our real-time AV/AM since well before 1909.

We use second opinion manual scanners such as AdwCleaner, Emsisoft Emergency Kit, Hitman Pro, and Malwarebytes as well.

Currently on 20H1, and no issues.

    droneflyer:
The Windows Security aka Windows Defender antivirus app that's built into Windows 10 should be used.
A third-party antivirus app should not be used because it can cause various issues.

I have been using Windows Defender happily for years. So far, so good.

It all depends on user habits...

For someone who is careful and well aware of risks involved in certain actions Windows defender is more than enough for anti virus protection.

For someone who regularly visits rouge and questionable sites, Windows defender may not be able to stop all threats.
Someone who regularly installs questionable software Windows defender may not be help too.
Many such reasons could defeat the whole purpose of Windows defender.

In such cases your best choices are virtualization based security, ex. Application guard window and virtual machine.
It's all fine as long as you don't elevate unknown code.
