How to Uninstall an uninvited AVG Browser; Requested AVG Antivirus.

Long ago in the days of UK Pub Space Invaders. About 1981 or 2; I started using Microsoft O.S. V.3.1,or 2. with a Qume Sprint 5 Daisy Wheel Printer with a KSR Keyboard; An 80 column 32K computer; 5 inch twin disk drives and software costing the Price of a House. All up in the Loft. Then we had to work from from C:\ . Today with Windows 10. I prefer to just used Google Chrome , Yahoo for emails, obviously Microsoft 10 and Word. I have also got Edge, I do use Malwarebytes Premium,
Up to a decade ago I used AVG for the same job for at least a decade and before Malwarebytes used AVG antivirus.
Well today on the DRIVERS FORUM where I had discused a problem in transferring old photos. I clicked on "Driver Reviver's" 2minute driver update after 5 minutes I became worried and after 3hrs 15 minutes I had to call a stop.
Obviously Something has to go and its AVG to start with. I need to uninstall all AVG Programs, This is better done using AVG own uninstall systems. If it can be found? A my first attempt to locate it. It's well hidden.
I feel certain fellow members can help as well as sing praises for AVG, the reason I used in the first place.

    Hi, here's a guide:
How to completely uninstall AVG antivirus with AVG Clear & AVG Remover

    - includes a removal tool. There is the normal means of uninstalling programs of course as well.

In general if you search (Google) for
    <product name> manual uninstall

you find the AV's removal tool.

I normally use Geek Uninstaller (free) for other than security software- this quickly lists all uninstallable programs with a search feature.. then runs the standard uninstaller for the program, then a scan for leftovers.

    Nice link, dalchina !

May I also comment it is good to do a manual search of registry and system folders to delete any leftovers.

Doing it manually could be a recipe for disaster.

Tools like Revo Uninstaller and Geek Uninstaller will give you that opportunity when it uninstalls a program.

This can be far too laborious.

Using these uninstallers makes for a simple task and automatically creates a restore point before it begins.

    ^^^ Another vote for this.

The freeware versions of both these programs is adequate for uninstalling, removal of left over files and/or folders, and registry clean up. Preference 1 Geek Uninstaller for me.

AVG has become very nasty recently, best to avoid paid or freeware versions

I reference Dalchina's link - as a very old novice I have to write things down & take series of screen shots and store them in word to refer to constantly. Not being stupid but careful.
I clicked on it - the first response was a popup from Malwarebytes Premium reporting "Web Site blocked due to PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) Learn about PUP if you don't want to block the website you can exclude it from website protections by accessing exclusions. Domain: pchelpsoft.net ; IP address 104.196.239.80 ; Port 443 ; Type Outbound; File C:\Program Files (x86)\...e\Application\Chrome.exe : With the Click Buttons for "Manage Exclusions", or "Close": I did not click a Button.
The Website page I was headed: "thewindowsclub.com/completely-uninstall-avg-clear-remover"
then I Searched information about PUPs .
On the Website's Privacy and Transparency PopUp and with Cookies to be "Click Button Accepted". I clicked "Managed settings" just to see what I am up against PUP's etc. : on the Pop up listing each item you may have to give your permission to do whatever it does, there were 83 pages with 16 separate account permission potential decisions on every page plus the odd3 making a total number of 1314 potential account decisions (The original tempting button for the lot was a single Button). so I went down so I checked every one with permission accepted highlighted and deleted the accecptance.

Then followed the websites instructions to start with option one to Uninstall AVG antivirus
"The Process seems to access the be install AVG Options and on the presented page of options select Uninstall.
This it did then requested Restart Now or later. I chose now as it was 2am.
It closed down and Updated (Windows 10 I Presumed) on restarting. when it was finished I closed down.
I have yet to uninstall the other AVG Program/ Programs on the computer.

    a. It's a reputable site.
    b. I gave you general instructions as to how to find that tool.
    c. If unhappy with that reputable site, you should find the same tool on SVG's own site.

Common sense, really. Just think through your issue to resolve it.

    Hi Dalchina,
Of Course the website link "the Windowsclub.com" is reputable", as is your most welcomed,
experienced advice, as well as the AVG programs I have used for decades that I am Uninstalling, because they are taking over my computer by imposing an unwanted overpowering browser on me.
I must apologise if what I have written of my problems, as a very old Novice, seems otherwise.
It was just a record of my struggles, and being so surprised at the vast unknown permissions I have been giving blindly over the decades, it is little wonder that my PC grinds so slowly as my data is being mined.
I am just about to use the same website link from your original posting here to get the same website,s experienced help to do the second part of the website's advice: being to Install and uninstall the AVG Clear programs using my computer in Safe Mode as they suggest, because of possible danger to my setup. I have spent all day trying to achieve the simple task of getting Windows 10 in safe mode option 5 for Networking to use the internet as I am using now. because of the difficulties I encountered it has taking me all day, that I have only just resolved by using: "Start your PC in Safe Mode in Windows 10" - from Window Help. Seems obvious now,
Thank you again for your help and the link you supplied. It was very much appreciated.

Never used Geek, but have used REVO which leaves Registry entries on my system. When using REVO always check the appropriate boxes.

Never had an issue, personally, don't consider it to be laborious.
