    Redirect Infection

I have tried everything, including suggestions from the forum. Avast, Spybot, Adblock, and countless other programs and remedies, including uninstalling programs that were directly dumping redirects onto my laptop have failed to get rid of this plague. Where are the redirects located? How do I get rid of them? Please help me with this problem!

Can you describe what is happening? Which programs are affected, is there any message, what antivirus do you have?

Start with AdwCleaner, if there is trouble starting it, run Rkill first. But it would really be fine to know what happened..

When I try to open one of links in my website, when I attempt to go to a webpage, I get messages such as directpower popup blocker, redirects to actual web pages (ads), and even Microsoft redirects. It appears that is not only a great nuisance but is slowing my system down. I have adblock, spybot, and recently Malewarebytes Adware Cleaner (this one wanted me to uninstall pre-installed programs, which would delete my Office 365.). I also tried Avast and a few others. I uninstalled programs in control panel that were, in fact, redirect programs, and that didn't work either. I haven't tried Rkill. Will that work any better than the ones I cited? ---- Wordcrafter

AdwCleaner shouldn't uninstall Office. Where did you get it from? Is MSoffice from trusted source?

Rkill is only used if any infection is active on your computer and is preventing AV programs to start.

You could try Roguekiller, but download again Adwcleaner, and try with that. Go to settings and select reset firewall, and hosts

Spybot is old and will slow your system to a crawl as it fills host file with thousands of entries. If you are being redirected and nothing is finding it then it's a browser add-on or retention most browsers give an option to run in safe mode try that see if it doesn't happen then

Please download and save FRST 64bit or FRST 32 bit to your Desktop.

    Just a moment...
Right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.

Make sure that Addition option is checked.
    Press Scan button.
It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from.
Please copy and paste log back .
The first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe).

    I am trying your suggestions

Thank you for your patience. So far Malewarebytes, Hitman Pro, AdwCleaner and Zemana have failed. I was told by an expert that these nuisances are only seen by me. If that is the case. I will have to go on with my other matters. As long as I can clear the popups and redirects for now, I'll just have to be patient. People who view my websites don't see them, so I am going to chill out. ---- Wordcrafter

What browser do you use? Is it the same with any other browser? Did you reset your browser, and try to start in private tab - that will probably disable any add-ins

Can you manually check the hosts file, if anything is in it?
