also if you look for and use crakcs keygens, your pc will be infect by virus, spywares, trojans, keyloggers, malwares etc...

    stay away from torrentz
    stay away from warez
    stay away from adult contents

use a real time protection and if you already infected you can use removal tools

Standard response from most PC repair shops is reinstall windows rather than figuring out what the problem is.

In addition you could consider running the free version of WiseVector StopX for a few weeks alongside ESET just to see if it blocks something that ESET doesn't.

    WiseVector StopX component?

It's free at the moment but will become subscription in the near future.

If those were your symptoms then I agree with The Pool Man; you've been had.
I wouldn't put it exactly like that. What I'd say is they very likely mislead you to simply fix 'the' problem with as little chat as possible.

It's a reality of tech support that most people come in having NO IDEA what's wrong with their computer, lack the language to express what is wrong, and the response almost always is, "Backup everything and let's do a fresh install." That is what the %$@ing 'geniuses' at Apple typically do.

This is why having nice shiny stores to drop your Mac off to is really a scam. You're paying thru the eyeballs to have someone do something drastic that, well, you could have done yourself. They don't even backup your files for you. It's appalling.

So to the original poster I politely offer it's time to learn how to fix things yourself. I don't mean opening up the PC with screwdrivers and such. I just mean learning a little. Coming here and saying, "Hey... my PC is working weird."

There are some really amazing people here. And I wish I could say I was one of them but I'm still leeeaaaaarrrnnniiiing.

I recently had to take my Windows 10 Pro 64 bit PC to the repair shop because it took for ever to boot up and I lost my Internet connection.

The technician told me the machine had all kinds of virus and malware. Many of the system files were damaged so he had to format the C drive and re-install Windows 10.

Last year a second Windows 10 Pro 64 bit PC that I have experienced the same thing but the computer shop was able to clean the machine without re-installing Windows.
A lot of folks make the mistake of thinking that antivirus and anti-malware software is their "security", when in fact it's just one piece of security.

Security is a problem of multiple "points of protection".

    A few considerations -

The router - strong passwords, open ports, firewall config, wifi security

The network - split between the router (WAN to LAN protection) and devices (LAN to LAN protection).

The device - strong passwords, firewall config, OS patching, AV/AM protection.

The applications - application patching, permission levels, sandboxing.

The account - Standard User or Administrator. Principle of "least privilege".

The data - Frequent disk imaging, frequent backups of volatile data between images, testing backups, storing copies offline.

@ OldNavyGuy, that's too much to really comprehend, when one is just trying to use a computer to the best of their abilities.
I do agree that "knowledge" from tutorials will help in educating a user, as to how their computer works... or should work!

    Maybe for some.

However, it's important to learn about layered security, and understand the implications.

Too many people lose their data, and access to their systems, because they don't.

I was addressing your comment about comprehending.

A checklist prefaced with "Do I use", "Do I have", "Do I do", on the appropriate line item, makes it easy to go down that list.

Depends on how much importance the user places on their data, and their systems.

Repair shops are either charging by the hour or a flat rate.Cleaning can take time. It is about what the customer is willing to pay if it is hourly especally.
If you give a customer a choice of cleaning and backing up the data and formatting and cleaning is more expensive... Many will take or can only afford the cheaper route.
