Microsoft has labied CCleaner PUP Should I continue to use it?

Have been using CCleaner free version or years. I like it because it runs quickly and its features are easy to use. Microsoft has labeled it PUP a Potentially Unwanted Program. Should I continue to use it? If I discontinue using CCleaner how should I remove obsolete files, check on the Registry, find installed programs?

    CCleaner is still CCleaner.

Defender was changed to detect it.

The safest tool is Windows Disk Cleanup.

Wise Disk Cleaner is a decent product.

Revo Uninstaller Free for installed programs, Windows Store Apps, etc.

I would recommend leaving the registry alone.

I use the portable version of CCleaner [formerly named CrapCleaner]. It doesn't install and if paying attention doesn't seem to cause problems but if having problems it may be a better albeit last resort to doing a clean install.

It has always contained PUP's so why worry?

If you use Slim Build (like me) or Portable or Pro then they don't contain any extras.

Especially if you disable auto update checks and update manually. Auto update might install the regular build.

    Possible Unwanted Program

So much meaning in so few words.
I use Cleaner at times but not so much as to have it active all the time.
If a program is of some use to you and doesn't install things you don't
want then the program isn't a PUP to you.
You can exclude it from defender if you want to.
    The choice is yours .
The fact that Microsoft doesn't like it doesn't mean it is evil.

And from today's Department of Irony, a VirusTotal scanner flagged the Defender Antimalware Service, and the Network Real-time Inspection Service as malware -

I also use the portable version for the same reason - I also use the portable version of MiniTool Partition Wizard.
