That could be it. The "parent" program might have been uninstalled. Oh well, I'm not going to waste any more time on it I suppose lol
Bitdefender is one of the best AV programs on the market, I use it :) and it doesn't slow down the machine like many others do. Do you know what version it is? This may help http://www.bitdefender.com/site/view/uninstall_consumer_trial.html
Well, if it's not giving you anymore probs, then glad you got it sorted. The only reason I could guess you had an orphan file related to that would be that somehow, it tried to install in the background without your knowledge & it either failed or was interrupted. You might want to give Agent Ransack a try just for curiosity's sake & see what it finds. Something to do when you get bored.... And it's a good prog to have. The only thing I use anymore when searching for files.
Could it be some malware "masking" itself as Bitdefender or "mimmicking" it?
I don't know. My system was fully restored and everything works 100%. The file is this: "BitDefender Threat Scanner.dmp" and is in c:\windows\temp and whenever I reboot, right before it shuts down, I get a pop up message something about BitDefender encountered an error.
