    Phishing test page.

    Regards.

Do you know why Microsoft Defender does not hold the Amtso Phishing test?

Take all the tests and the only one that fails is the Phishing Page. I did it on 2 computers and it is the same result.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It's a harmless test so possibly Defender ignores it.

    Anyway check out:

Bitdefender TrafficLight - Free Add-on for Secure Web Browsing

    Then try again.

    Thanks for answering.

But previously I had performed the test and if it detected the page.

Well apparently it should not. Are you sure that Defender blocked it and not something else?

Also it's possible that the criteria Microsoft uses for evaluating that page changed after definition updates.

Windows defender false positive - forced to allow threat

Anyway why be concerned? I just tested against some current "real" phishing sites and they were all blocked.

    I don't use Defender.

I am using the chromium based Edge browser. Isn't Defender the one that detects threats?

I had Eset internet security, but my license expired and I wanted to try Microsoft's antivirus. A week ago I started using it if I detect the page, yesterday I repeated the test just out of curiosity, and I no longer detect it.

The last thing he wrote I do not understand. Did you use defend or not when performing the tests you mention?

    I do not use Defender.

    What don't you understand?

    Quote from posted link:

I asked WD about their AMTSO fail with a text file, through the virus submission page:

    Submit a file for malware analysis - Microsoft Security Intelligence . . . https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/filesubmission/

It's nice that you can get an answer! It shows that someone is there.

    They said:

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

The submitted files do not meet our criteria for detection. No detection will be added for these files.

More detailed information about the approach and criteria categories currently used by the Microsoft researchers are available here:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/antimalware-support/malware-and-unwanted-software-evaluation-criteria

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So, apparently, Win Defender sees that some of what the AMTSO test puts on your computer (ie. the Phishing test) as being ok - but Avast Free does not.

Like I said there's no problem because it's a harmless link.

What you should be concerned about is detection of real phishing attempts.

Suggest: Install this Chromium Edge addon and it's got you covered regarding that page,

    TrafficLight - Chrome Web Store

    Check results here:

Note: Real phishing sites. Do not enter information.

They should be blocked by your security solutions.

I can get to it with Firefox and Edge, using Defender on Windows 10 Pro 1909.

Interesting that a page designed to test your malware protection is blocked...by your malware protection.
