    Windows Defender Firewall - unresponsive




    All of the following are unresponsive to clicks (I click and nothing happens):
    • Use recommended settings
    • What are the recommended settings?
    • Turn Windows Defender on or off
    • Restore defaults
    • Advanced settings


    Any ideas?

    Are you using another antivirus with a fire wall? If not, make sure Windows Defender is started in "services". Right click on all of these, choose properties, in the drop down box, select automatic ...select apply and click start to turn the service on. Windows Defender Firewall - unresponsive-defender.jpg

    If Control panel is unresponsive, try Command prompt to reset firewall to default (Option 2 in Brin's Tutorial)

    Thanks, good to know.

    I ended up using Tweaking.com - Windows Repair Free/Pro Windows Repair tool. Firewall is back up and running. I think the problem was caused by a software install.

    Glad you solved it. Tweaking is a great tool. Just have to be careful with it.

    Which software was the culprit, if I can ask?
